“Don’t have to tell me twice. Have fun not existing, wanker.” Blaise plunged his hand into Viktor's chest and obliterated the black orb that was his soul.

The entire room shrouded in darkness, and Viktor’s reptilian-like body chipped away into nothingness. A few moments later, his immense, monstrous aura was dispelled along with his unsightly body.

The sound of the vibrations from Gabriel’s slow clap bounced off the walls. "Well, we restored balance."

Light illuminated the room as big white spheres of light came from Gabriel's heavenly magic. I had to admit, as much as I detested Gabriel, his magic was beautiful. Granted, it wasn’t only his magic. It was Heaven’s.

"It seems like we have intercepted the prophecy, thanks to the Crimson Demon.” He walked closer to Blaise and I.

I flapped my wings, turning in an entire circle like a damn puppy to get a good look at them. I totally understood why dogs chase their tails now.

My wings were huge compared to my small frame, so much that they almost seemed disproportional. They were made up of thick flames of fire, and they were fucking beautiful. I’d never seen wings that had no bones or feathers. My wings were pure magic, and I loved them.

I wonder if I can fly.

"Gabriel, you still have wings, right?"

With a ghost of a smile on his lips, he nodded, and white feathery wings expelled from his back. He flapped them as if he were stretching them out. I hadn’t seen his wings in a long time, and they were gorgeous.

Even on the back of an enemy, I couldn't deny that.

Blaise snorted. "Don't compliment him. He killed you before."

"I saved her life this time," Gabriel mentioned with a strangely genuine smile on his lips. "I pulled Viktor off her before it was too late."

I winced at the painful memory. I’d really thought I was going to die. "And I appreciate that. Now, how do you pull your wings back in?"

His gaze was intense as he stared at my wings. "I'm not sure about yours, but all I have to do is tuck them in like I’d cross my arms. If that doesn’t work, I'm sure someone in Heaven could help."

"Why would she need to go to Heaven?" Kai wrapped his arms around me, and I melted into him.

"She's clearly part angel," Thaddeus murmured, pulling me out of Kai's arms and into his. He kissed the top of my head before Blaise pulled me away.

I pressed my lips against his newly healed chest through the hole in his shirt. "I'm so fucking thankful you're alive."

"Thanks to you, Poppy," he said, kissing my lips like he couldn’t get enough. I savored his taste.

Aziel held a hand out to me. “Mind if I cut in?”

Blaise let me go with a nod toward Aziel, who took my hand and pulled me into his arms. He breathed in my scent and pressed kisses all over my face and neck. "Stop almost dying on me. I've seen you die once already. I can't do it again, my beloved."

"I'm sorry, Aziel." I cupped his face, pausing the showering of affections and kissing his nose.

I closed my eyes and focused on tucking my wings back in. Two lines of heat slipped into my shoulder blades, and my wings were gone. It was like they’d always been there. I had complete control over them, like they were any other appendage.

Thank goodness.

"Outstanding work controlling your wings." Gabriel stepped forward. "But you have to come with me. I've been instructed by Queen Astral for you to be brought to Heaven if you were to show angelic traits."

Aziel growled, pushing me behind him as he stepped forward. "She's not going anywhere with you.”

Titan, Thaddeus, Blaise, and Kai stepped beside Aziel to create a barrier between me and Gabriel.

“The Queens of Heaven gave us orders to watch you for angelic traits,” Selene said, bowing her head slightly.

I glanced over at her and Kalyke, who nodded in response.

“But why did they give you that fucking order? I’m Lilith. I was made in Hell and born from Hell.”
