“It steals them,” he said. “Her powers, her essence, her very life force is being drained into the bracelet created by blood magic. After the next full moon, Lilith will be dead.”

What the fuck does he mean, dead? No. I won’t allow it. My vision pulsed red as time around me stopped. All there was, was the pounding of my heart against my sternum and an electric buzz in my ears. I couldn't have heard him right.

“No other magic works on blood magic,” Bran muttered as he sat on the left of Theo.

“Only blood magic can counteract blood magic, but every time it’s used, the scales tip in favor of evil,” Orenn said as he sat on the right of Theo. “That’s why the blood witch coven was wiped out.”

I squeezed my hands together in front of me on the table. “So you’re telling me, this bracelet is killing her?”

“Yes,” Theo answered without missing a beat. “And Emma told me Gabriel’s panicking. He doesn’t know what to do. The blood witch has been manipulating him. Apparently, he’s under a blood oath not to contact any of you.”

“Still hate the fucker,” I spat. But I was glad he wasn’t an immediate threat to her while I wasn’t around.

“Who exactly is the blood witch?” Kai asked. “And is she even that powerful?”

“Her name’s Mystia Delacroix. I know because when I did the blood oath with Zelek to begin the long journey to reincarnate Lilith, I watched him do one with her. And yes, she is that powerful.” Chills ran down my arms. That bitch was insane, but Zelek insisted on working with her.

If this Mystia was really involved, this whole thing went a lot deeper than we thought.

“Please,” Kai pleaded, lacing his fingers together as he stared holes through Theo. “Help us get to Heaven so we can save our girl.”

Theo’s lips pursed as his glowing white eyes glanced between the twins who nodded. “I want to help, but only if you can guarantee my safety escaping Heaven and hiding out in Hell with the twins afterwards. If I do this, it’s an immediate death sentence from Heaven.”

“Consider it done,” I said. “Lilith will register you as a fallen angel when she gets back, and we will keep you safe.”

“We won’t let you die,” Orenn growled into his ear, and Theo’s smile spread on his lips.

“In that case, I’m more than happy to give you access to Heaven,” he told us.

My entire body sparked hope again, stoking that fire inside me that we would get Lilith back, and I could start begging for her forgiveness for failing her again.

With an angel on our side, we would be able to get to my beloved. Together, we would get that fucking bracelet off her and kill the last blood witch once and for all.
