Gabriel stumbled back, wiping the blood that poured from his lip before it healed. “I’m not here to fight.”

“Should’ve bloody thought of that before taking her!” Blaise rushed at him next, landing a punch to his stomach that blasted him further away from us.

Gabriel’s body was like a rag doll before his wings flapped a few times, keeping him from falling to the ground a second time. He wasted no time flying back toward us, hovering just out of reach.

“Could you fucking stop for two seconds?” Dean spouted, jogging in between us and Gabriel. “Let him explain the situation. He knows more about Lilith than any of us.”

I rolled my eyes, biting back the disappointment from not being able to hit him myself. “The wanker better explain quickly.”

How the fuck were we supposed to know if we could trust a word that came out of his mouth?

He’s the root of the problem. The whole bloody reason she was captured. I didn’t understand how her own kin was defending him, but maybe he didn’t know the whole story. It wasn’t beneath the angel to manipulate.

Gabriel turned his attention to Emma. “Due to a blood oath, I can’t speak to anyone from Hell directly, so I’m talking to you.”

“Fucking blood oaths,” Aziel growled, fists shaking at his sides.

“Follow me so we can go to Lilith.” He flapped his wings a few more times before soaring higher in the air and leading us away from the meadow.

“Is he taking us the right way?” I asked Hunter before we stepped a foot in his direction.

“Yes,” he assured us, “I’ve been there before. I wouldn’t fuck with you about this.”

I nodded, and we started weaving through the tall grass in the direction Gabriel went.

“So, you’re the men who captured her heart?” Corbin murmured as we filed out of the tall grass into a sandy desert-like section and toward a cave in the base of a mountain.

I smiled, my feet sinking into the sand with each step. “More like she captured mine. And she’s had it since the first moment I met her.”

“She’s my entire world.” A soft smile spread across Kai’s face. Anyone could see the love pouring from him clear as day.

“Bloody right.” Blaise gave him a sideways glance. “She’s the most spectacular woman I’ve ever met, and I’ve been alive a long time.”

“She’s my beloved.” Aziel smacked his chest with his fist. “And she will always have our hearts.”

Corbin let out a small sigh before smiling at us. “Take good care of her, okay?”

“Of course we will,” Kai said, reaching out and patting him on the shoulder.

“We should thank you,” Blaise told him, and he furrowed his brows together.

“Why would you thank me?” Corbin tilted his head.

“Isn’t it obvious, mate?” I asked and he shook his head. “You saved her life when we couldn’t.”

His smile grew as he stumbled over a mound in the sand before picking back up the pace. “I’ll always save her. I still love her.”

“And look what you got for that,” Dean muttered, kicking at the grains with each stride.

“What’s your fucking problem?” Aziel snapped.

“My problem is that you’ve taken my sister and turned her into something unnatural.” His voice rose and his chin trembled. “But more than that, you made her leave us and keep us in the dark. Keeping us out of the supernatural loop was dangerous with what we were, but you didn’t think about that did you? Gabriel did.”

“Are you fucking joking?” Blaise let out a dangerous, low growl that vibrated the air around us. “Nobody knew the dangers of your blood except for your father. We didn’t know you were anything but human.”

“But he did!” He pointed toward Aziel who snarled in response.

“I can’t believe the cat we housed for so many years was the demon who aided Zelek in those terrible rituals,” Mia said with a shaky voice.
