“Don’t say that, my beloved.” His eyes filled with unshed tears as he helped me off the table and passed me his oversized black shirt. “I wasn’t there for you, and I’m so fucking sorry.”

“Stop apologizing, Aziel. It wasn’t your fault.” Our fingers touched as I took the shirt. Crumbled clay coated the fabric so I shook out the top before slipping it over my frame and he did the same with his pants. “Besides, I feel safe when I’m with you. Let me enjoy your company without you feeling guilty about shit you can’t control.”

His gaze was hard as it roamed my body, stopping at my face. “You look so fucking hot when you wear my clothes,” he said, letting his fingertips graze the area on my thigh where the shirt reached.

“I can’t fucking tell you how happy I am to be back with you and the rest of the guys.” I grabbed his hand, interlacing our fingers. “You weren’t too terrible to them when I was gone were you?”

Averting his gaze, he muttered, “Not anymore than they deserved.”

“Aziel!”

He sulked, pouting his lip out. “I won’t apologize for knocking their senses back into them. I wanted to do a lot more and that was less than they deserved.”

“I’m sure they were glad they had you to help keep them in line,” I replied, sarcasm drenching my tone.

In truth, I fucking loved his protective side. Everything about him made my knees weak. As hot as it was, he didn’t need to give the rest of them shit. I was sure they all handled my abduction differently, and I knew whatever the case was, Aziel took it to the extremes.

“They were,” he said with a wink. “Let’s head back and see how the gate is.”

Hopefully the guys didn’t run into any trouble at the heart.
