“Oh my God, Noah! What is wrong with you? Look away!” She unlocked her legs from Luke’s waist and frantically pulled down her top to make sure she was fully covered, smacking Luke’s hands away as he attempted to help her.
Noah rolled his eyes. “You guys done?”
“Who the hell asks that?” April growled, unsure if she was more sorry they’d been caught or thatNoahhad been the one to find them. “Why are you here?”
“I got your message,” he said dryly and his eyes narrowed as he looked at Luke behind her. “Didn’t expect to findthis, though.”
April bit back a curse as she looked between Luke and her brother before throwing up her hands. “I’m going inside.”
Luke chuckled and she glared. “We can talk about this another time.”
“There’s nothing to talk about,” she hissed and then stalked away, knocking into Noah as she passed him, surprised when he fell into step beside her.
“Sorry about the blue balls,” he said as they approached the gate to the house, and her growl didn’t stay contained that time. “Hey,youwere the ones out there for all the world to see.” He shuddered.
“Not. A. Word.” The front door opened easily and Noah followed her inside.
“I’m just saying, it’s none of my business what you guys do. Surprised it’s taken this long, really, with all the tension you both kick off.” There was a knowing look in his eyes, the same look he’d shared with Kathy over dinner a couple weeks before, but he faltered at the scowl on her face. “Just maybe next time you guys hook up—”
“There won’t be a next time! And you’re being ridiculous. It was a kiss. You’re acting like we were about to do it right there and then!”
“Didn’t look too far off,” he muttered and Aprilmight have retaliated had their mom not walked into the hall with raised brows at that moment.
Undoubtedly taking in April’s rumpled appearance, their mom’s lips twitched. “Must have been some thank-you.”
“I’m going to bed,” she huffed and pretended not to hear their laughter as she stomped up the stairs.
April couldn’t sleep, and it was entirely Luke Pointer’s fault. She’d become so riled up by him, by thewantthat he’d left her with, that even the embarrassment of Noah catching them hadn’t dispelled how turned on she was. Tossing and turning until the small hours of the morning, she found herself cursing that the walls of her parents’ house were too thin for her to just find some release.
At two a.m., she’d finally pulled out her phone, quickly opening up Luke’s contact before she had a chance to second-guess herself.
April:
If I’m the only one of us still awake after tonight, I’m going to be furious, Pointer
Luke:
Calm down, Jones, you’re not alone.
April smiled smugly to herself as she read the message. There was something satisfying about knowing that Luke also wasn’t getting a good night’s sleep after what had happened between them.
April:
