I can hear the keys on the basement door as she gasps out from the glass as it nicks her skin, but I say nothing. The door swings open and slams upstairs and I push at her feet.

“Go,” I tell her.

“Ella,” she looks at me.

“Caroline, go!” I shout at her as the feet on the stairs are louder now. “Go!” I’m shouting as she pulls her feet out and I try to move over to the window. I feel hands on me as I’m being dragged away from the window. Reaching out, grasping for anything that I can. Feeling his hand over top of my mouth.

“Ella!” she screams at me before I bite down on his hand and he yells.

“Run!” I shout out the window, not being able to see her as Marc grabs me again, pulling me backwards.

“You fucking cunt.” He snaps as he looks out the window. “You’re going to pay for that.” He snaps at me before I attempt to fight against him. I feel the sharp pain. The pain takes my attention off of the object in my hand. “You’re about to have some fun.” He snaps into my ear as I feel a searing pain in my side as the syringe of the needle is pressed. Still looking out the window, I see Caroline running. She glances back at me before my world begins to melt away and I scream, but my voice sounds foreign.

We all stop as a strange car pulls into the parking lot, and when the passenger side door opens, I hear Ash gasp.

The girls have been missing since yesterday. We haven’t been able to do anything. And no matter how much we look, we cannot figure out where the fuck they went.

“Red…” he runs over to her, cupping her face. “My God, are you alright?” He asks her and she just nods. Instantly Caroline’s eyes come up to mine as the car next to her backs away. “Wait.” Ash yells as he opens the door she just got out of and talks to the man for a few seconds.

My fucking stomach is in my throat as Caroline just continues to stare at me.

I’ve never seen her so scared before.

“Is she okay?” I hear the question leave my mouth as Care carefully swallows. She looks up at me with fearful eyes and shrugs her shoulders.

“She figured out a way for us to get out and made me crawl through first…” she trails for. a second. “Before I could get all the way out. He came in.” She stops and her hands tremble as she speaks. Ash comes up quickly, balancing her against him, so she doesn’t fall over.

“Where?”

“I’m not exactly sure. I can show you where…”

“Okay,” Khan nods his head.

“I’m taking her to the doc—” Caroline cuts him off.

“Like fuck you are.” He looks at her. “We can go as soon as we get her, but I’m coming with you guys. I’m the only one who knows remotely where it is.”

“Caroline.” Ash tries to argue with her.

“No, fuck off. You have no idea.” She glares as she steps closer to him. The tears don’t threaten her eyes, because it’s obvious she’s been crying for hours. Her face is tear strained as she brushes them away again. I’m not even sure what to do with her sobbing like she has been. “Ash don’t even. The last time we had this fight you ended up breaking up with me.” He looks away quickly.

“Fuck,” Ash mumbles as he looks at me. “You’re with us.” He nods over to the truck as the three of us make our way over. Khan and Fury both hop onto their bikes. Ace and Remy follow on his bike. Caroline doesn’t look back at me or even over to Ash. She just continues to stare forward. Not saying a word until she whispers. “Right.” And then goes quiet again.

“Her scream…” Caroline finally starts talking as her eyes go round and now, I can see them in the mirror, I feel like I’m going to pass the fuck out. “I don’t know what happened. But she’s hurt. I don’t know how bad. I couldn’t do anything. So, I ran. As fast as I could, I ran. I got back to the road. Caught a ride and had them take me to Pistons. I made sure to tell him who my husband was…” Ash gives her a sad smirk as she glances over, but all I can continue to hear is Caroline telling us she screamed. “I should have gone back. I should have—”

“Stop,” I snap at her, causing Ash to glance up at me in the rearview mirror, giving me a warning look. “You wouldn’t have been able to do anything except endanger yourself.” He stops glaring at me from the mirror now.

“Hey guys.” I hear it come over in my earpiece as Ash talks into it from the front seat. “Hang back. Watch for anything questionable.”

“Here,” Caroline whispers, pointing to a trail out. Ash nods his head before he glances back at me in the mirror again and I nod my head. “The trail… I’m not sure how long it is, but it ends at the house.”

“How do you know it’s this one?”

“The branches I broke off and left so I could tell which one.”

“You’re such a fucking genius… Okay.” he hesitates as he drives slightly past it. Pulling onto the shoulder of the road, he reaches into the console and hands her something. “Here.” He hands a comms to her. “I want you to stay in the truck.”

“Ash—” she protests, but Ash stops her.
