“Why’s that?”

“Because I could never find the right words.” I shrug as he moves closer to me.

“Yeah, that’s the same reason I never made it up here. What could I say to make any of this right?”

“Axe…” I whisper out as I look up and reach out to him, touching his chest. My hand instantly shakes.

“Ella.” He swallows as he looks down. “What I said that night. Before…” the doorbell cuts him off as he sighs.

“How the fuck. I’ve been back for 5 minutes.” I mumble out, before he smirks down at me and then walks towards the doors.

“Who are you?” I hear the voice come from the front and I stop everything.

“Who the fuck are you?” Axe snaps back, making me laugh a little.

“I was coming by to see my girlfriend.”

“Whoa…” I shout, walking down the hallway.

“Really?” Axe turns around and looks at me. “Good to fucking know.” He walks past me and up the stairs. I’m not sure how I’m supposed to explain this to him.

“What the fuck?” I snap at Colin, who just continues to glare past me.

“Who the fuck is that?”

“Why are you here?”

“Because you’re back.”

“I’m not back, and how did you even know that in the first place?”

“Allison said she saw a moving truck in your drive. I wanted to come by and see what was going on.”

“I told you, my dad was sick.”

“Yeah, and you haven’t responded to any of my messages.” He glares at me.

“And that didn’t leave you with any sort of idea…?” I laugh as I hear a door slam upstairs.

“Who is that?”

“That’s none of your business.” I cut my eyes back over to him.

“I beg to differ…”

“Colin, I’ve been gone for 3 months. We fucked 3 times before I left… that in no way means that we are in a relationship.” I nod back at him as he sighs. “Especially when I don’t respond to you.”

“He’s the reason you’re being like this.” He snaps at me. I want to argue with him, but I can’t because he’s right. Axe is the reason I’m like this, but not how Colin is insinuating. I've been this way for years. “You’re unbelievable, Ella.” he shouts at me and I hear the door upstairs slowly opening.

“You need to leave.” I tell him, hoping to shove him out of the house before Axe comes down on a rampage. Although, the look he gave me before he stormed back upstairs, I’m not sure that he will. He may just let me fight this one on my own.

“No, you need to tell me who the fuck that is,” he points up to the stairs. I start to tell him no for a second time. I start to tell him he has no fucking right to know because we’re not together, but I’m cut off as he steps into me.

“Colin.” I give him a warning tone. “You don’t want to do this.” He cages me into the wall.

“Oh, and why’s that?”

“Because I’ve killed men for less.” Axe’s voice is even as it comes from behind Colin, whose eyes widen to mine.
