“Oh,” she whispers out as I see the recollection in her eyes.

“Yeah, that’s why I’ve been over there so much. He doesn’t know yet, but I’m getting to know him.”

“That’s kind of fucked up that she didn’t tell you.” She debates back as I just laugh.

“She tried to.” I shrug. “But that doesn’t matter.” She doesn’t need to know all of this.

“Yeah, I guess you have to be there for him.” She whispers and I nod.

“I’m sorry.” I shake my head, getting up to leave, when her voice stops me as I reach the door.

“Axe, if it wasn’t for the kid, would you still want to get back together with her?”

A small smirk spreads on my lips as I nod. “I’m not sure that’ll ever happen, but yeah.” Pulling the door open.

“If you guys aren’t getting back together, then why are you here doing this?” She slightly snaps at me.

“I’m trying here, Chloe.” Closing the door back, I turn, leaning against the door. “She may have pointed out to me thatyou and I aren’t on the same page.”

“Ah, I see. So, you fucked her.”

“I’m not having this argument with you.”

“There’s no argument. I mean, both people actually have to give a shit to argue.” She glares at me. Sadly, I’m pretty sure I know what she’s doing. She’s trying to bait me into an argument. And the more she tries, the madder I’m getting.

So she will end up getting her wish. Only she doesn’t understand how I am when I get mad.

I am trying to keep myself calm as she continues to yell. “I just don’t get it Axe, what did you just think that I was okay fucking you for over a year with no strings attached.”

“Yes, because I’ve told you repeatedly that I wanted nothing more.”

“But you keep coming around frequently and I’m here waiting for you.” She tosses her hands to the side.

“Why would you wait?” I finally shout at her. I know I’m losing my temper when her eyes widen. “I told you not to. I told you I was going to continue to fuck other people. So again, I don’t understand why you would assume all of this.”

“Just answer,” she looks at me, sighing, “are you guys getting back together?”

“No.”

“Then why are you ending this?”

“Because I didn’t realize until she pointed it out to me.” Taking a couple of steps into her, “I thought you understood.”

“I get it.” A small tear slides down her face. “You don’t want it with me.” She whispers out and I have to try everything in myself not to laugh out loud.

“That’s the thing. I’ve never wanted it with anybody, except for her.”
