“Oh, Aubrey! I have heard so much about you. I can’t wait to meet you!”
Emma smiles. “Does that mean you’re coming?”
“Oh I mean, I have to ask my mom first, but I don’t think she’ll say no to babysitting. And if she does I have two other options. So you can count me in. I’ll do the morning too, but we might have to just pick one option. I won’t have time to do hair, make-up, and three services. Manicures maybe?”
“We’re meeting with them today, I can ask her which service, but manis sound nice,” I add.
“Great! Just let me know if that’s what they want to do and I’ll send you over a blank contract with my family pricing and you can just fill in whatever they decide and let me know.”
“Lace, you are a freaking lifesaver. Seriously. I can’t believe I forgot to book the hair and makeup.” Emma drops her head into her hands on the table.
“Please. A weekend alone with my man? Maybe baby number three could happen finally with some alone time.” Lacey laughs.
“Wouldn’t a third baby mean less alone time?” I joke.
“Probably. But they’re just so darn cute when they’re newborns. And a newborn in Colton’s arms, well that might lead to number four.”
“Colton is smoking.” Emma waggles her eyebrows. “I mean, don’t tell Roman I said that, but…”
Emma can’t even talk. Roman is something pretty to look at. None more than Cooper though. He’s my favorite work of art this town has to offer.
“Okay, I gotta go, my next client is here. I’ll have my receptionist email you that stuff though. Love you!”
“Love you! Thank you!” Emma shouts.
The phone beeps, letting us know she hung up.
“Wow. That was some adrenaline rush, huh?” Emma laughs, but her cheeks are still tinged pink with embarrassment at her mistake.
“At least it’s sorted and the bride won’t be any wiser. That’s why they hire planners, right?”
“Right. But maybe, ones who don’t drop the ball on big things like their hair and makeup.” She rolls her eyes.
“Next up is this welcome dinner. I was thinking of seeing if Violet could do something at the inn’s dining room, a little fancier than usual, but family style.”
The two of us get lost in planning mode for hours when Anna and Lily come into the barn.
“Mommmyyyyyy.” Her little voice sing-songs through the hall.
“Back here, love!”
“Mommy, it’s awmost dinnew!” Lily admonishes me.
Looking at my watch confirms she is correct. “Oh my gosh, Anna, I’m so sorry! We just got lost in planning, and…”
Her eyes take in the table that’s covered in doodled on pieces of paper with notes from both Emma and I.
“I’d say you two had quite the successful day.” A smile lingers on her face, letting me know she isn’t mad about the time.
“Aubrey is hired. I don’t even care if she wants the job. She’s taking it. I couldn’t have done this without her.” Emma stands, stretching her back. “But maybe we can pick this back up another day. The couple is happy with what we have so we just need to finalize everything. I’m going to run up to talk to Violet really quickly before she leaves for the day.”
She hugs Lily, and Anna, before leaving.
“Ready to go home for dinner?” I ask Lily.
“Yes! Mat and Cheese.” She licks her lips.
“Can you say thank you to Ms. Anna for watching you today?”
