“I get it. Not all families have that close bond. My cousin hardly ever spends time with her parents, yet I loved my childhood so much that I stayed with my parents after college. I couldn’t see myself not seeing my parents at least a handful of times out of the month, but Onesty can go months without seeing her parents and sister and be fine.”

“Yeah, I’m the same way. I talk to my family daily and have to see them at least once a week, though I see my brother a hell of a lot more than that. But with my mama? It’s just not the same kind of relationship. We’re there for each other and have a great time together, but we just don’t have that close kind of bond.”

“Well if y’all are okay with it, that’s all that matters.”

I hopped from the piano to the violin, playing Pachelbel's Canon in D.Not long passed before the sound hypnotized Pops enough for him to join us. He hopped on the organ, and we played the trap version of the piece we’d created. One piece turned into two, and by the time my sisters arrived, Mama Neo and Neptune had joined us. When I got lost in music, I could admit my surroundings faded. As I locked eyes with Heir, there was admiration in her eyes as she stared at me. She must have been recording because she put her phone down, walked over, and gave me a sweet kiss before wiping my lips.

“You’re so amazing, babe. I’m in awe of you. Is there anything you can’t do?”

“Stay away from you,” I replied, pulling her down on my lap.

While Mama cooed and Pops muttered about me being his boy, Merci said, “Yeah, yeah. Enough with the mushy stuff. Introduce us officially, big brother,” with a wide smile.

Chuckling, I nodded my agreement as she all but pulled Heir off my lap and into her arms for a hug.

“Merci, Ariel, this is my wife, Heir. Heir, these are my sisters, Merci and Ariel.”

“It’s a pleasure to meet you both,” Heir said as she hugged Ariel.

“You too, girl. If another Valentine’s Day passed and this man didn’t have you, I was liable to track you down,” Ariel replied, making them laugh.

“Wait. I feel like there’s backstory here that I need to hear,” Heir said, looking back at me.

“Come on. Let’s make some margaritas and we’ll tell you all about his lovesick ass,” Merci granted, wrapping her arm around Heir’s.

“Aye! Keep some secrets to yaself. Don’t send me out too bad now,” was what I said, not that I gave a damn. I didn’t care if Heir knew that I carried her in my heart and life long after she walked out on me. If anything, I was sure it would help her trust my words and feelings for her. To this day, I had no way to justify why my feelings for her were so strong and sincere so soon, but they were. All I could do was pray nothing pulled us apart again.

Heir burstinto a fit of giggles as I made my way over to her. Her head shook rapidly as she yelled, “No!” through her laugh. “I have hadenough!”

“Nah. You getting drunk and fucked tonight when we get back to the safehouse,” I declared, wrapping my hand around her neck. Choking her with enough pressure to make her moan, I tilted her head back and gritted, “Open yo’ pretty ass mouth.”

A low moan escaped her before she obliged my request and opened her mouth. I poured a shot of vodka down her throat before lowering myself to her for a deep, nasty kiss. Truth was, I didn’t drink with a woman after what happened with Heir years ago. I felt like if I was more sober, I could’ve picked up on her inconsistency and knew there was a chance for her to be a flight risk. If I did, I wouldn’t have had sex with her.

Regardless of how well I handled my liquor back then, it made me more willing to risk it all. And since I never wanted to do anything to embarrass my family or myself, I stopped drinking unless I was around people I really trusted. Now that she was back in my life, I felt like I had my drinking buddy again, and we had a lot of time to make up for.

“We finna go?” she asked, making me laugh, but it turned into a moan when she squeezed my dick through my jeans.

“Watch out na. I’m a shot away from forgetting we at my folks’ house.”

“I’m okay with that,” she replied, using my hand to sit me on the bench next to her.

All of my siblings except Merci had left for the night. She was upstairs knocked out. I offered to drop her off at home when we left but it was nothing for her to crash here, so that’s what she opted to do. My parents had retired to their room for the evening, and I told Pops I’d text him and lock up when we were heading out. Since Neptune had just left, I planned for us to leave now, but Heir looked so peaceful staring out into the night sky that I didn’t want to rush our exit.

“Heir,” I warned softly as she climbed on top of me.

“Hmm?”

I gripped her ass as she kissed and licked my neck. “You gon’ be quiet?” I confirmed, surrendering to the fact that we wouldn’t make it to the safehouse let alone the car before I was inside of her.

“Very quiet,” was what she said, but we both laughed because we knew it would be a lie.

My phone vibrated in my pocket, and I groaned as I pulled it out while she circled her hips against me. At the sight of Ariel’s picture, my dick immediately started to soften. If she was calling me this late, it was serious. She was the lightweight out of all of us, and I expected her to be home and in a deep sleep by now.

“Hello?” I said after answering, and the sound of her yelling in the background had me putting Heir on the side of me so I could stand up.

“Nah, nigga! Keep that same energy you had before I called my brother. What you getting quiet for now?”

I heard her husband suck his teeth and mutter, “Mane, fuck you, Ariel. You really ain’t shit. I’m getting sick of you tryna use your daddy and brothers to keep me in check.”
