I wait for her to slide in, then pull the seat belt across her and kiss her as I secure it.
“This is Diego, he’s my second in command, and I trust him implicitly to get you home safe.”
“Okay,” is all she says, still watching me with sober eyes, as if it’s starting to sink in how powerful I am.
“Sleep well, Savage.”
She smiles, and I close the door and watch Diego drive away. When they turn out of sight, I go back inside and straight up to Rome’s penthouse, where everyone’s still hanging out.
“I like her,” Lulu informs me with a bright smile. “Put a ring on it and let us be her besties already.”
Natasha and Scarlett both nod, and I can’t help but laugh.
I love these women and how welcoming, how fuckinggood, they are, despite the world we live in.
“Yeah, well, she’s making me work for it.”
“That makes me like her even more,” Scarlett says. “Good for her.”
Suddenly, my phone starts ringing, along with Rome’s, Carson’s, and Julian’s as well.
Julian answers and his eyes darken.
“We have to go.”

“Ithink I have a massive crush on a Mafia king.”
Staring at myself in the mirror, I take a deep breath and let it out slowly. Did I just say that out loud?
Yeah.
I did.
I’m in my sleep shirt, my hair is insane, last night’s makeup is smeared under my eyes, and all I can do is stand here and stare at myself as the events of what happened in that sex club replay through my mind.
Also, sidebar, I had the best night’s sleep that I’ve had inseven years.
“Apparently, getting sexed up by Mateo is the magic sauce for sleepy time.”
I smirk but then sober again. Because as good as the sex is, and as much as I actually enjoy being around him, he’s still dangerous. And I don’t know for sure that he isn’t in cahoots with Damien.
“You could ask him,” I say to my reflection as I wet a cloth so I can wash my face. “Just have a conversation with the man.”
I work the soap into my skin.
“But then, he might kill you for asking the wrong things.”
I rinse and then stare at myself again.
“I don’t think he wants to kill you. I don’t think hewould, no matter what. You drugged him. You went through his home. You’re basically stalking his businesses, and hestillonly says sweet things and fucks you like it’s his whole job in life to give you as many orgasms as humanly possible.”
I work my brush through my hair and then twist it up into a bun, since it really needs to be washed, but I slept too late today, and there’s no time for it.
Scheduling a woman’s hair washing requires a calendar and a spreadsheet.
