FIFTEEN

Lilith

My stomach churned as my fangs pierced the tough skin of Gabriel’s wrist. His divine blood coated my tongue before seeping down my throat, sating my hunger and easing the pain in my stomach. Pulling my fangs out, I glanced up at the malicious angel with a nod.

He pulled his arm away with a ghost of a smile on his lips.

I still wasn’t sure he wasn’t bluffing about being my only source of food, but I needed to be as strong as I could be in this shitshow, and that meant not starving. Just because I was accepting his nutrients, didn’t mean I trusted him. In fact, I didn’t trust him one bit. Gabriel had a warped sense of justice, and from what I could tell, he’d gotten himself in some deep shit, bringing me down with him.

“Are you sure there’s nothing you can do?”

He nodded. “I’ve tried everything. There’s no way of getting the bracelet off or you out of this room without the blood witch. She is the one who teleports me inside. I can teleport out, but without her help, I couldn’t get in.”

My brows bumped together. “So that means when you brought Corbin and Dean?”

“Yes, they met her.”

“Do they know what she is?”

He shook his head. “I did find out some news from Selene about your”—his face twisted with disgust—“demon and vampires.”

My lips parted as I tilted my head. “You mean the ones who abandoned me and my father dealt with?”

His cheeks tinged pink as he raked a hand through his hair and clenched his teeth as he admitted what I knew all along. “I lied.”

“No shit.” I scowled.

I knew he’d lied. There was no way my men would give up on finding me. But what I didn’t know was why he was fessing up.

“I thought maybe… If they were out of the picture, you’d give me a chance.” He shook his head with a sad expression. “That’s what she said anyway. I see now that wasn’t my best course of action.”

Who the fuck is she? The witch? Why would she give him any indication of that? My suspicion of the blood witch grew.

"And what made you realize that?" I snorted, hopping off the bed. My toes flinched as they hit the cold resin, and I bounced a bit in place until I got used to the coldness.

He smiled. "Your love for those four men surpasses anything you could ever feel for me."

My mouth fell open. He wasn't wrong, but I hadn't expected him to come to that conclusion all on his own. In fact, I doubted he had.

"Who told you I would give you a chance if I thought the guys had left me behind? The witch?"

He nodded.

"And who made you see that would not happen?"

"Selene," he said with a groan. "She's angry that I've been spending so much time with you."

I rolled my eyes. That wolf always had it bad for Gabriel, but he never gave her the time of day. My heart went out to her for the unrequited love, but she didn't have to stand aside and let him take me back at the warehouse either. "And what did she have to say about the guys?"

"Aziel captured one of our angels and tortured him for information to find you."

I sucked in a breath. "Shit."

"Your vampires have just ceased their blood oath with your father, and—"

I blinked before stepping forward. "I'm sorry, what blood oath?"

"They were dumb enough to enter into a blood oath with the King in order to see you."
