"See me?" I snorted. "Right, and I'm sure he just showed them a photo of me right?"
"Actually, he hasn't kept up his end of the bargain yet."
"Hmm." That was strange. He usually fulfilled his blood oaths as soon as he could. "And what did he ask of them in return?"
"To stay bound to Hell for an entire month."
"How long have I been here?"
He glanced away as he heaved a heavy sigh. "You've been here a month and five days."
"What?" My voice boomed in the small room, echoing around us. "Why the fuck am I being kept away for so long?"
The muscles around his lips twitched as he frowned. "I don't know."
"Gabriel..." I walked over to him from the side to make him look at me. "I have to get out of here."
"I know." His voice cracked as he stared at me with those glowing white eyes. "But I don't know what to do to help. I've made a mess of things."
"Why not tell Queen Astral?"
"Blood oath." He scowled, and I groaned.
“Then how can you tell me?”
“She never specified that I couldn’t tell you.”
Fuck. I spun away from him and began pacing back and forth, my bare feet making little pats on the hard floor.
"There has to be something we can do." I bit my thumb. He was under a blood oath to not tell anyone from Hell or Queen Astral, which was fucking inconvenient for us. There was no way for him to contact the guys, but maybe we could find someone from Heaven to contact the guys instead.
After a few minutes of pacing back and forth with Gabriel's gaze on me, it clicked. I stopped pacing and jumped around to face him. "Emma!"
"Your human friend?" He lifted a brow. "The soul that hangs around Hunter?"
My lip quivered as I remembered the fate of my family, but I pushed my feelings to the side. "Yes. She can figure out some way to get a message to the guys. She's very resourceful."
He nodded, getting to his feet and walking over to me. "I'll contact Emma and see what I can do to bring her to you."
"Great. I'm not sure if there's anything they'll be able to do, but we won't know until we try. At the very least, they'll know I'm okay." I stared down at my feet, pressing my toes against the floor.
"Are you sure you don't need essence?" His index finger hooked under my chin and tilted my head up to look at him.
I knocked his hand away and looked up. "I'm sure. I only need essence like...once a week."
"But you've been starved for—"
“I'm okay, Gabriel. Go and see if you can bring Emma."
His expression blanked as he gave me another nod before teleporting out of the room.
My skin felt like there were a million ants crawling all over it, and I shivered. Talking with Gabriel without wanting to impale him was weird, but I had to stay cordial if I wanted help to get out of this mess.
