If Gabriel wasn’t the enemy, that meant there was something greater, and that thought was enough to piss me off more, and I was still going to kill that wanker.

“And she wanted you to know she’s okay.” Bran shot us a lopsided grin.

“We have to get to her,” I said, and the guys nodded.

“How can we get to Heaven?” Thaddeus asked.

Orenn shrugged. “Without an angel, it’s impossible.”

“And finding an angel to help go against Heaven’s law to bring us there won’t be easy,” Bran mentioned as he wandered into the kitchen and opened the fridge. “Gross. Do you have anything other than blood?”

The pixie flew over to him and flicked his head. “They’re vampires, silly dog.”

He swatted at her, and she fluttered back to the table and stuck her tongue out. “Doesn’t mean they can’t stock real food,” he grumbled.

“What about your lover?” Kai asked. “Can’t Theo take us?”

“Fucking two hellhounds is against protocol, but he’s doing that anyway,” Aziel said. “So he shouldn’t care about breaking Heaven’s law?”

Bran and Orenn shared a stiff look before shaking their heads.

“Not only is that dangerous for him,” Bran started.

“But it’s a lot to ask. I bet he won’t do it,” Orenn finished.

“Can we talk to him?” Kai’s voice was strong, but the look in his eyes was desperate, fuck, we all were.

Bran hesitated as he looked at his twin, and Orenn bit his lip.

“I know it’s a lot to ask,” Thaddeus said. “But let us have the opportunity to explain the gravity of the situation.”

“We can talk to him about it,” Bran said with a sigh. “But we can’t promise he will agree to meet up with you.”

“That’s all we’re asking,” I said. We were one step closer. “We want him to hear us out.”

“If he’s friends with Emma, I don’t see why he wouldn’t help us,” Aziel said. “Go ask.”

“We will meet up with him in a couple of days,” Orenn told us. “Since he lives in Heaven, we don’t meet up as much so we don’t cause suspicion.”

“Two hellhounds and an angel.” The pixie sighed in a dreamy way. “How romantic.”

“Fucking pixies,” Orenn snickered.

Hope sparked in my chest. We knew more than we had all sodding month, and I was itching to have her back in our arms where she was safe.
