TWENTY-SEVEN
Lilith
“Oh, you should’ve seen me a few fucking hours ago.” I spat the words at him with venom. “Delirious and about to be sacrificed by a blood witch.”
His cool facade dropped and his lips parted before he turned his head toward Queen Astral, who narrowed her eyes at Gabriel.
“A blood witch?” Her voice was cold, direct, and fucking scary. My father was a manipulative asshole, but I couldn’t imagine someone like that being my mother. “Were you not teaching Lilith to control her angel side?”
“No,” Aziel answered for him. “He was busy helping a psychotic blood witch seal off Lilith’s power and drain her life essence.”
She gasped, holding her chest before glaring at Gabriel. “Is what the demon says true? Did you go behind my back and aid a blood witch?”
Gabriel hung his head with a frown on his face. “I have no excuse.”
“I’m disappointed in you.” She snapped her fingers.
Bright chains made of pure light wrapped around his body before she clapped her hands and he disappeared in another flash of light. My blood ran cold at the gracefulness in her actions, and a sympathy pang shot through me for Gabriel.
But he had made his own grave, and I wouldn’t stop him from lying in it.
Zelek walked over and reached out a hand toward me, but I stared at it, ceasing it from coming closer with my mind.
“Don’t touch me.”
The corners of his lips turned down in a frown, and he let his arm fall to his side. “You have telekinesis? That was only hoped for by us. I’m proud of you for figuring that out.”
Queen Astral smiled at me, but instead of putting me at ease like I assumed she was trying to do, a violent chill zipped down my spine. “Lilith, I’m sorry for Gabriel. I had no idea he would betray us like that.”
“Well, he has a history of betrayal,” I bit out. “Why did you really want me in Heaven?”
Clasping her hands in front of her, she glanced toward Zelek. “To train your angel powers so you have complete control.”
“For what?” I crossed my arms. “I have control of all of my powers. That was a stupid idea.”
She placed her hands on her hips. “We thought you’d lack control with all the powers inside you.”
“Obviously, you were wrong.” I rolled my eyes. “What do you two really want from me?”
Her bright smile dropped as a serious expression painted her face. “You have a power unseen by anyone in all the realms. We want to use your power to ensure balance is maintained.”
“Use my power?” I snorted as the warmth from my men surrounded me, reminding me I wasn’t alone. “Meaning you want me to destroy any threats to balance whenever you want me to?”
“It would also be beneficial if you helped us become more of a monarchy,” Zelek said with a tinge of manipulation in his voice. An alarm rang in my head every time the bastard would get that look in his eyes, but I wasn’t his pawn anymore. I wouldn’t work for him ever again. Not after what he did to Aziel and then further disrespected me and my men by sealing a blood oath with my guys.
“Hell is a monarchy, isn’t it?” Thaddeus asked.
“Heaven is too,” Kai mentioned.
Zelek and Astral shared a look before Zelek answered, “Technically, but it would be more effective to rule the entirety of the realms without sectioning it off.”
Sectioning it off meant the four different sectors of Hell and Heaven.
I snorted a laugh. “Oh my God! You want me to dethrone the Kings and Queens so you two alone can rule your own realms.”
Everyone froze when I said that, except for the two in front of us with careless smiles on their faces.
“Precisely, yes.” Astral grinned, running her hands through her long hair. “But we’d prefer if you’d just kill them.”
