“You’re the Queen. My most valuable piece on the board,” he said, his eyes darkening. “The one who defies all logic who will help me reach power. As for my daughter, I created you, but there is no sentimental feeling there.”

My chest ached and my head throbbed as the flames died out. Learning his true intentions wasn’t surprising, but it was disappointing. He never wanted me as a daughter or even as a colleague to rule the Southern domain of Hell with. All Zelek wanted was ultimate power so he didn’t have to lift a finger, but I wasn’t the only one he fucked over to gain that power.

Maybe Gabriel was right to murder me, because if he didn’t, I wouldn’t hold all this power at the tip of my fingers. I wouldn’t be able to take on the man who created me without it.

Two warm hands landed on my shoulders, and calmness washed over me. I didn’t need to look to know Kai was there with me. He always knew what I needed and right now, that was a cool, calm, clear head.

“I’m so fucking disappointed, Zelek.” Holding my hand out, I cast my own judgement on Zelek and Astral. Black flames spread from their middrifts to their entire bodies, and I sent them to the heart of Hell for immediate torture.

Removing a King and Queen from their duties would cause imbalance in the realms, but I was hoping we’d have enough time to intervene before too much destruction ensued.

My knees gave, and the anger and adrenaline left me as Kai held me upright.

Thaddeus stepped in front of Aziel to scoop me up into his arms. “Let’s go home, love.”
