TWENTY-EIGHT
Aziel
Lilith had changed. Not just physically with her powers, but who she was had altered when she was alone in that fucking cave with Gabriel. Her essence was stronger, and her scent was still nightshade and brimstone but now with a hint of vanilla. The confidence she’d always had had increased, and she was like a fucking goddess walking in our realms. The Crimson Demon had been prophesied, who was to say she wasn’t a goddess after all?
After saying goodbyes to her family, she and the Draven coven departed from Heaven and returned to Hell, but Titan and I stayed in Heaven to alert the other Queens of what had transpired with Astral.
It fucking killed me not be with her when we finally had her back, but there was shit that needed to be done. We didn’t want Lilith having to do everything, so we wanted to take a load off her where we could. Since Titan was on the Order of the Void, he was our in with the Queens and had called an emergency meeting in Heaven’s meeting room.
I was itching to get back to my beloved, and as soon as I had her back in my arms, I would show her exactly how much I missed her.
“Dude, slow your thoughts.” Titan rolled his eyes, pointing at my groin.
“Fuck you,” I growled. “Just because you’re jealous—”
“Could you shut up with your jealousy comments?” He sighed, rubbing his eyes as we took our seats in two fluffy white chairs that surrounded a large marble table. “It’s clear as fucking day that I’m jealous, but when we found her, she didn’t even acknowledge me.”
I frowned, thinking back to when we’d found her in the cave. The Draven clan and I ambushed her, and then everything that happened after took precedence, so she didn’t have time to speak to Titan. “I’m sorry,” I said. “We all kind of distracted her.”
“Yeah.” He scowled. “I know, and I get it...but it just…”
“Sucks?”
“Yeah. It fucking sucks.”
“Let’s get this over with, and we’ll go see her. That way you can actually talk to her.” I shoved my jealousy down. He’d been helpful in finding her, and I didn’t want to make him feel like shit about it.
He nodded. “Thanks...I appreciate that.”
An insane fucking series of bright lights flashed, and I squeezed my eyes shut until it stopped.
Flash.
Flash.
Flash.
“Titan, demon representative of the Order of the Void, I do hope this is important,” a melodic voice hummed through the room, echoing around us.
I scrutinized the Queen angels with care. They looked like they were all related. They were various heights with the same features. Glowing white eyes, white hair, and feathery white wings. Their presence wasn’t as calculating and malicious as Queen Astral’s was. They seemed calm and put together but in an almost gentle way, but I wasn’t going to let my guard down.
“It is,” he said.
“Who’s the demon accompanying you?”
“I’m Aziel, guard and lover of Lilith,” I said, my deep voice rumbling through the room.
They nodded as they shared knowing looks. “We’ve heard of you.”
“I’m Queen Isabella of the South,” the angel with her hair pulled into a side braid introduced herself with a small smile.
“I’m Queen Catherine of the East.” The angel with the shoulder length wavy hair took her seat across from us as the others did the same.
“I’m Queen Provence of the West,” the one with the fancy updo said as she crossed her arms on the table in front of us.
“We have information about Queen Astral that needs to be brought to your attention,” Titan explained, and their faces paled.
“What did she do?” Provence asked.
