“Why not? The queens are going to make Gabriel a King of Heaven. Why can’t we let her be a Queen of Hell?”
My heart stopped. I’m sorry, what the fuck? Gabriel took over Astral’s position even after being in cahoots with a blood witch? Were the queens completely stupid?
“Because it’s tradition. I don’t care if Heaven breaks it, we shouldn’t break it too.” Edgar sniffed.
“That’s fucking sexist. Lilith would rule the South sector with ease, and you know that.” Aziel growled, a deep rumbling moving through the room.
They shared looks before Edgar and Cyril groaned.
“If you’re as powerful as you say, you would be more than qualified…” Edgar tapped his chin. “We knew you were powerful because of the celestial event, but we didn’t know all of this. Zelek has been working under the radar,” he muttered, hellfire dancing in his pupils.
“I don’t really care either way.” Cyril shrugged.
“How do we know you wouldn’t overthrow us though? You’re possibly powerful enough to overthrow us if the chance arose.” Edgar’s gaze pierced mine.
“I have no desire to overthrow you.” My sincere gaze swept over the three of them. “I wouldn’t want to rule all of Hell anyway. That’s far too much work, and I’m not that ambitious.”
The three of them stared at me for a few moments, probably deciding if I was trustworthy or not.
“You do know all the duties of the position.” Edgar released a bitter sigh. “You would be the best choice.”
Idris grinned, standing up and extending his hand over the table to me. “Will you be the first Queen of Hell?”
Swallowing thickly, I stood up and wrapped my hand around his with a firm shake. “I’d be honored. I’ll whip the Southern domain back into a domain we can be proud of again. It’s not lost on me that your domains are run better. We have a lot more souls escaping than you.”
“Because Zelek was lazy,” Cyril replied with a snort.
“See to it that you don’t make the same mistakes he did,” Edgar told me as he shook my hand next.
“Never.”
Cyril shook my hand with a slight frown. “Can you make sure Zelek is taken care of?” The true meaning of his request made the blood in my veins freeze for just a moment. I knew what had to be done.
“He knows too much about the Heart to stay there for long.” I brushed my hair out of my face, tucking it behind my ear. “I’ll obliterate him.”
They winced as a grim look came over their expressions.
“We know,” Cyril supplied.
“At this point, if it’s not him…” Idris trailed off.
“It’s us,” Edgar said. “I’d rather it be him.”
“I can agree with that.”
“Will you be able to? He’s your father after all,” Idris murmured as his gaze met mine.
“He may have created me, but he’s not my father.” Aziel laced his fingers through mine, and I squeezed his hand. “There’s no sentimental attachment there.”
“Good to hear,” Edgar said, throwing his hand up as he turned toward the portal. “See you soon, First Queen of Hell.”
They left the room through the portal, and Aziel started chuckling. “Did you just become the Queen of the Southern domain of Hell?”
Pride swelled inside of me and leaked out, filling the room with it. “Damn right I did.”
“You’re so fucking perfect,” he growled, grabbing my hips and lifting me onto the table. The warmth of the table sunk through my clothes as he spread my legs apart and settled between them. “I love you.”
Gasping out a breath, I reached up and wrapped my hands around his horns and pulled his face to mine. Our lips crashed together, teeth gnashing against each other. A silky hot heat erupted in my lower abdomen and lust over flowed from my body to his.
