THIRTY
Lilith
Rolling my eyes, I sat my ass in the plush chair pulled up to the mahogany table in one of Hell’s meeting rooms along with Aziel. Thaddeus, Blaise, and Kai went to check on the gate to the heart of Hell to make sure Zelek hadn’t tried anything. I brought Aziel since the Kings already knew him.
As I expected, the Kings of Hell were late to a meeting they had devised.
“Fucking slackers.” Aziel placed his warm hand on my leg.
I snorted. “Aren’t they always?”
“Any time I’ve ever met them,” he muttered before slipping his hand to my inner thigh. “If they’re late, I don’t see why we couldn’t have taken our time in welcoming you home.”
His hot breath in my ear and his thigh so close to my core made me clench and a small moan escaped my lips. “Aziel…”
“It’s been over a month without you, my beloved.” His voice was a deep rumble and it sent a flush of heat through me. “Why don’t you let me fuck you on this table?”
“And when the Kings of Hell walk in on us?” My breaths were shallow.
“I’ll burn their eyes out for staring at you.”
“You’re bad.” My teeth sunk into my lower lip. “And I fucking love it.”
“I know you do.” His fingers brushed between my legs and I spread them further.
“Excuse us for being late,” Edgar, the King of the Eastern domain, said as they filed into the room through the portal. Although they were all brothers, you would’ve never known it based on their appearance. I supposed being created from ash limited the possibilities of similar genes. Edgar was the tallest one of them, followed by Idris then Cyril.
Edgar was the youngest of them and sported violet skin to match his violet horns. He had brown hair slicked back and stared at me with distant, dark eyes. When I was a demon, I envied his horns. That was the only thing I envied about him. He was a narcissistic bastard, not nearly as bad as Zelek, but still annoying to be around. We never saw eye-to-eye. His domain of Hell was run very particularly. He was a fucking dictator.
Cyril, the King of the Northern domain, had short strawberry blonde curls with blue eyes. His skin was tanned and his horns were a pale yellow. He was indifferent the majority of the time, but he wasn’t cruel as Zelek had been. His domain of Hell was effective but just as indifferent as its King.
Idris, the King of the Western domain, was the eldest. He had dark brown skin and had short salt and pepper hair with piercing green eyes. His horns were green and matched his eyes. He was my favorite of the four Kings in my early days, due to his empathy and kindness. His domain of Hell was empathetic toward the demons who worked it and it was the most effective domain when it came to every aspect. I’d tried to get Zelek to pick up on Idris’s ideals to no avail.
“You’re always late.” I snapped my legs closed and tossed Aziel’s hand back into his lap, but he just put it back on my knee with a smirk.
“Then it’s to be expected,” Cyril said as they took their seats across from us.
I rolled my eyes. “I always expect you to conduct yourselves like assholes.”
“We’re not all assholes.” Idris frowned, crossing his arms as he leaned back in his chair.
“Now’s your chance to prove it,” Aziel told him.
Their gazes cut to me with their lips pressed together, showing me they actually took me seriously for once.
Taking a deep breath, I launched into the thick of it. I explained what I was and how Zelek created me the second time. I went into detail of his plans with Astral and mentioned the blood witch. By the time I was finished, their mouths hung open and their eyes were wide with disbelief.
“Hmm.” Cyril tilted his head, glancing at Aziel.
“That’s fucking crazy.” Idris rubbed his temples.
“But it doesn’t surprise us.” Edgar shrugged, casting his gaze downward. “We figured Zelek would turn on us sooner or later, but I didn’t think it’d be so complex.”
“Well, rest assured, I wouldn’t have gone along with it no matter what.” I squeezed Aziel’s hand. “But he is in the heart of Hell. Who will run the Southern domain?”
“Why can’t you?” Idris asked before the other two smacked him in the back of the head causing him to curse. “What was that for?”
“She can’t be a King,” Edgar said with his brows raised.
